Head in the sand...

inessential: Tech Choices

This definitely isn't the win they think it is.

Some people do not have choices in those matters given how ubiquitous tech is.

Those who decide to return to the Nazi bar made a choice to do so for their own validation and superficial reach.

Using Amazon is nearly unavoidable for most people as a matter of survival.

People can't help being forced on Microsoft 365 at work.

Too dismiss so many people who don't have a choice to obfuscate and excuse people making terrible decisions is shitty!

This is how capitalism continues to permeate and allows people to disengage and checkout from actually liberation work.

If you can find just a little crack in the imperfect system to excuse your bad behavior, you take the cheap win and never think of it again.

Yes, I buy Apple products. I prefer them others because of its usefulness to me and the work that I do.

However, it would be fucked up if I didn't acknowledge the blood and death to bring me an iPhone or a MacBook.

What I can do during these times of injustice is not to bury my head in the sand and say "look, they do it, too" or "You use an iPhone so you aren't better".

What I can do I actually try to take part in dismantling these oppressive systems that way we can enjoy the things we own (or at least try to own them) while holding those accountable for the terrible shit they have done to society.

So, miss me with this "how can you criticize society if you participate in it" bullshit!
